GRACE/GRACE-FO Science Team Meeting 2020

The GRACE/GRACE-FO Science Team Meeting (GSTM) 2020 took place as an online meeting from 26 to 29 October 2020 organized by the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

More than 180 scientists from 17 countries participated in the meeting.

As usual, the GSTM2020 consisted of several topical sessions on specific themes. However, due to the exceptional online format caused by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s GSTM schedule could not always be strictly organized by consecutive presentations of the same subject. Instead, live presentations were scheduled in morning and late afternoon (CET) sessions, organized as Zoom meetings, in order to allow participants from all time zones around the globe to present their results. Most of the live presentations were also recorded and could be watched on demand later on by the participants. Besides 55 live presentations, there were also 20 offline (poster-like) presentations which could be discussed by posting comments via the GSTM2020 website.

The meeting was opened with a detailed GRACE-FO Project Status session. On day 2, analysis techniques of gravity mission data were discussed. Days 3 and 4 covered the topic of Next Generation Gravity Missions as well as applications of mass transport data in the fields of hydrology, oceanography, glaciology and solid Earth sciences.
