Due to implications caused by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the conventional layout for a face-to-face GRACE/GRACE-FO Science Team Meeting (GSTM) 2020 in Potsdam was not possible. Instead, the GSTM2020 took place as an online meeting in the week from 26 to 29 October 2020 organized by the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam – GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

Thank You! The organizing committee would like to thank more than 180 registered participants from 17 countries actively taking part during the live sessions from 26 to 29 October 2020. Please be reminded that the discussion of all uploaded presentations (not only for offline displays, but also for live displays) is enabled until 27 November 2020. To access the uploaded presentation, please browse the session program. Authors are also able to still upload or update their presentation materials until 27 November 2020.

As usual, the GSTM is a mixture of moderated discussions on specific themes and contributed presentations on various subjects. Considering that this year’s GSTM had to be held online, the program committee decided on the following modifications compared to the usual on-site meetings (see “General information” for more details):

  • The GSTM2020 consists of live video sessions organized as a Zoom online meeting accompanied by presentations which can be discussed offline.
  • To account for the problem of different time zones, there were live video sessions in the morning and late afternoon (CET). These video sessions have been recorded and can be watched on demand.
  • Presentations are organized into two types: live displays (presented during video sessions) and offline displays (for offline discussion).

The meeting opened on Monday, 26 October with a GRACE-FO Project Status session, which consisted of the mission and flight segment technical status, future science plans, and status and information on the latest GRACE and GRACE-FO Release 06 data releases from the Science Data System.

On the following 3 days, the meeting continued with its scientific program. Abstracts were solicited from the Science Team members and other attendees for presentations in the areas as described in the session description.

If you have special requirements or suggestions for new data product definitions or for product accuracy, resolution, or latency, we invite you to send a 2-page (maximum) summary as a text or PDF file (preferred) to the program committee.
